110 Years of NYC Eyewear
This year MOSCOT is celebrating their 110th anniversary. To commemorate this milestone, they've launched a groundbreaking campaign that blends Artificial Intelligence (AI) with traditional photography to recreate twelve decades of New York City style.
In collaboration with Lisbon-based fine art photographer, Julien Roubinet, the project spanned five months and involved generating hundreds of AI-powered images, each capturing the essence of NYC from the early 1900s to the present day. These images depict various eras, including the tenement-filled streets of the early 1900s, the glitz of the Roaring ‘20s, the vibrant hippie and disco eras, and the high-powered Wall Street of the ‘80s.
From these AI-generated visuals, twelve striking images were selected. To authentically integrate MOSCOT eyewear into each scene, the team photographed twelve iconic frames on mannequin heads, meticulously matching the lighting, angles, and perspectives of the AI models. Through careful retouching and compositing, and by aligning the film stocks with each decade, the final visuals appear as though they were effortlessly captured in their respective eras, seamlessly merging history and innovation.
